Louis Hamel is an extraordinary builder and designer and is incredibly dedicated to his work. He keeps to deadlines and is understanding of the needs of his client, often putting me at ease as situations came up with the never-ending obstacles of my 200-year-old building. Louis gained the respect of all the sub-contractors and worked incredibly well with the demands of city ordinances and the officials. Louis’s craftsmanship is second to none. LHDB Scope: Designed and built interior restaurant space. Transformed a street-level retail space into a high-end bar and eating area. Connected the new space to the existing kitchen and to the restaurant dining area located below grade. This highly ordered space was created in an historic multi-use building. Working to install code-compliant (and convert existing) mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems in very tight spaces, within a fixed timeline, while normal business operations were ongoing was challenging and well worth the effort.
